The emerging important sponge biosilica found in recent years have attracted a lot of attention. This lecture will overview and highlight some research achievement on sponge biosilica in biomineralization and biomedical research fields and their potential applications for nanotechnology and nanomedicine. |

报告人简介 The focus of research of H.C. Schröder and his team is on the elucidation and characterization of genes and proteins involved in biomineralization and their potential biomedical and biotechnological application. He has a long-term experience in molecular and cell biology of aquatic invertebrates and the investigation of the mechanism of biomineralization, in particular biosilicification in sponges. This group has discovered several cDNAs/genes involved in biomineralization in frame of a sponge genome project. H.C. Schröder is Professor at the Department for Applied Molecular Biology. This Department is in the lead within the University with respect to an internal ranking of research grants. H.C. Schröder is member of the German Center of Excellence on Marine Molecular Biotechnology “BIOTECmarin”. | |
