摘要

In order to develop suitable polymer systems to meet the requirements of practical applications, it is important to control their chemistries and hierarchical structures well at a molecular level.

We have been working on developing suitable polymers systems for health care and consumer cares. Several approaches for monomer assembly are developed for preparation of suitable polymers including Michael addition polymerization of trifunctional amines with acrylic monomers, attaching polymers brushes onto polymer/carbon nanotubes/nanosized hollow silica spheres, and controlled free radical polymerization. Then polymer systems are obtained via molecular assembly in forms of nanosized carriers, networks, and nano-pattern for drug and gene delivery and MR imaging, rheology modification and anti-fouling.

Dr.Liu Ye is Senior Scientist in Institute of Materials Research and Engineering (IMRE), A*Star of Singapore. He got his bachelor degree in Chemistry from Anhui Normal University in 1986, Master degree in Macromolecular Chemistry & Physics from Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry in 1991, and Ph. D from University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) in 1998, respectively. After working in USTC as a Lecturer for one and half year, he joined in IMRE in 1999. He received the President Award of the Chinese Academy of Science. His major research interest is developing functional polymers for health care and consumer care. He has published 80 papers in Angew. Chem, JACS, Macromolecules, Bioconjugate Chem., Biomacromolecules etc, filed 13 patents, and licensed one technology.
